Rostock, [10.12.25] – In 2025, the United Nations declared the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. As part of this global event, the Institute of Physics at the University of Rostock is dedicating itself to the fascinating interface between art and science. For several years, the Institute of Physics has been successfully collaborating with the Kunstverein zu Rostock on projects exploring light and quantum physics.
As part of the RostockStipendien2025, four artists were invited to explore and interpret quantum physics through artistic practice. Over a period of two months each, they worked in the Kunstverein’s studios as well as at the University of Rostock’s institutes, developing new perspectives on the world of quantum science.
The exhibition “quantum” presents the results of this interdisciplinary collaboration. In their works, Katerina Belkina, Marta Djourina, Elli Ott, and Joanna Schulte engage in innovative ways with the abstract and fascinating concepts of quantum physics. The artists’ works open up new visual and artistic approaches to the complex theories of light and the quantum world.
The exhibition will be on view from December 10, 2025 until January 19, 2026, at the Kunstverein zu Rostock and invites visitors to experience the invisible dimensions of quantum physics in an aesthetic and contemplative way.
