SFB LiMatI Welcomes New Junior Professor at the Institute of Physics

Dr. Maria Richter, newly appointed Junior Professor at the Institute of Physics

The Collaborative Research Centre 1477 “Light–Matter Interactions at Interfaces” (LiMatI) welcomes Junior Professor Dr. Maria Richter, who assumed the newly established Junior Professorship for Theoretical Light–Matter Interaction at the Institute of Physics at the University of Rostock on March 1, 2026.

Professor Richter conducts research on current theoretical questions in light–matter interactions. Her work focuses in particular on the nonlinear dynamics of molecular aggregates and on chiral systems at interfaces—topics that complement and further develop the research profile of the CRC.

The proposal for the second funding period of the CRC has been submitted, and the review process is forthcoming. In the event of renewed funding, Junior Professor Richter is expected to lead a new subproject within the CRC. In addition, she will actively contribute to the collaborative research activities of the Institute of Physics and the Department LLM of the INF.

With this appointment, SFB LiMatI sends a clear signal for scientific excellence and sustainable structural development.
