Studies, PhD, and Then What?

Abstract:
One of the greatest challenges for young scientists is finding a satisfactory job. This applies equally to master's graduates, PhD holders, and young postdocs. However, the uncertainties and fears associated with this task are often kept quiet. A major driver of dissatisfaction is the temporary nature of most academic positions. So, what should one do after studying physics or completing a PhD? Move from one postdoc position to another without any long-term planning security? Transition to industry but no longer truly engage in physics? Are there pathways to switch between the two? I would like to illustrate with my own career path that there is no single correct answer. It is possible, even through detours between academia and industry, to secure a permanent place in highly interesting research. For me, an important condition was not being afraid to continually delve into new fields. In the end, one finds physics and mathematics from their studies almost everywhere.
